Self-taught jewelry designers, Wade Papin and Danielle Wilamore from Pyrrha, have used reclaimed silver and gold to cast authentic 19th century wax seals into pendant necklaces, bracelets and rings. The goal of the Seal Collection was to create something meaningful that people could connect with on a deeper level as each individual piece has its own symbolic significance. Original and unique, the collection is quite powerful in history and allegory.
Interesting fact: The name of the company comes from the Greek myth of two lovers, Pyrrha and Deucalion who were the sole survivors of a disastrous flood. To recreate humanity, they each threw stones over their shoulders that formed into other men and women.

Jerome Mantel’s shop, The French Baker on Murray St in Byward Market, is known to be Ottawa’s best bakery. With fresh, traditionally-made croissants selling out before 10:00am, its normal to wait in a line around the block on Sunday morning. The scent of fresh bread is welcoming and wafts down the street leading you right to their door. The croissants are rumoured to be ‘exactly like in France’ with a light, flaky texture and delicious buttery taste. Their pain au chocolat is perfect; chocolate chunks buried in the doughy goodness and best paired with one of their illy coffees. They also sell macarons – raspberry, chocolate, pistachio and hazelnut as well as varieties of other pastries and breads.
